Yiddish is a high-German derived language and is considered the traditional diaspora language of Ashkenazi Jews. The Yiddish translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published by Olniansky Tekst in 2020 and translated by Arun Schaechter Viswanath, and features the art of Jonny Duddle. And, happily, in 2024, book 2 was published by the same publisher with chaechter Viswanath translating again.
